This African musical instrument, called Aoko, Boni Djolé or Axoko, is an idiophone percussion instrument mainly used by the Baoulé people of Côte d'Ivoire.
It consists of a twisted wooden rod along which a hollowed natural seed slides, serving both as a striker and a resonator.
A smaller seed is used to produce a friction sound by sliding on the rod, creating a dry and characteristic rhythm.
Used in traditional dances, ceremonies, or rhythmic games, this instrument offers an original and lively sound.
It is played by rubbing or striking, depending on the desired sound effects.
