What Steel Do We Use?

Our bases are made of S235 steel, a grade of construction steel known for its strength and ease of machining. It complies with the EN 10025 standard and comes in several subcategories:

  • S235JR (1.0038)
  • S235J0 (1.0114)
  • S235J2 (1.0117)

These classifications are based on the steel's tensile strength and toughness.

Chemical Composition

The composition of S235 steel includes:

  • Carbon (C): 0.17%
  • Manganese (Mn): 1.40%
  • Phosphorus (P): 0.035%
  • Sulfur (S): 0.035%

Mechanical Properties

  • Yield Strength: 235 MPa
  • Tensile Strength: between 390 and 780 MPa
  • Elongation: 7 to 12%

The Brinell hardness (HBW) is generally below 120, allowing for easy machining and excellent weldability. However, its corrosion resistance is moderate, promoting a natural patina when used outdoors.
