According to legend, the companion of the first man was a Bobo, or farmer, so that since the dawn of time this ethnic group has been centered on the work of the land and venerated it by its masks. Based mainly in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso's second largest city, they speak Bobo, the language of the Gur group.
